Overview

The Diana Award is the most prestigious award a young person can receive for social action or humanitarian work. Established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, it recognises young people who are creating positive change in their communities. The award is nomination-based, not a self-application, meaning a third party must nominate a young person whose contributions they can attest to.

What this opportunity recognises

Young people aged 9-25 who have made a meaningful contribution to their community through social action or humanitarian work.

Who can apply

Eligibility includes age criteria (9-25), evidence of sustained social action or humanitarian contribution, and international eligibility. Nominators must demonstrate the nominee's impact through supporting statements and evidence.

Nomination vs self-application

The Diana Award is nomination-based. A nominator (teacher, mentor, community leader or someone who knows the young person's work) submits a nomination with supporting statements. Young people cannot self-apply. Nominators must be able to speak to the nominee's character and the impact of their work.

Application requirements

Nominations require supporting statements from the nominator and additional references, evidence of the young person's community impact, and details of the activities undertaken.

Project and evidence expectations

Evidence should demonstrate genuine, sustained community impact. This may include project descriptions, testimonials, photographs, and records of activities and outcomes.

Selection process

Nominations are reviewed by an independent judging panel. The process includes assessment of the nominee's impact, the sustainability of their work, and the quality of supporting evidence.

Awards, prizes and benefits

Recipients receive The Diana Award, access to the Diana Award network, and opportunities for further development and recognition.

Fees

No fees.
