Programmes/Project Design Sprint
Step 02 — 6 Weeks

Turn an Idea Into a Responsible Plan.

Six guided weeks to shape a real community project — from understanding the need to presenting a feasible, safeguarded blueprint ready for review.

Overview

Project Design Sprint

6 WeeksContact for details

The Design Sprint helps students move from a vague intention to a structured, responsible project proposal. With mentor guidance and an NGO-informed brief, students research a real community need, define a feasible project, and present a blueprint. Completing the Sprint does not guarantee a project will proceed to implementation.

Deliverable: Challenge brief

Mentor-guided throughout

Each student is paired with a mentor who meets them weekly, reviews each stage, and provides written feedback. Mentor checkpoints are built into every week.

For parents

The Design Sprint is a structured, low-risk way for a student to test whether a project idea is viable before any community delivery.

  • Weekly time commitment is typically 3–5 hours.
  • No community delivery takes place during the Sprint.
  • Parents receive a short progress note at the midpoint.
  • Completing the Sprint does not guarantee project approval.

NGO-informed briefs

Where relevant, students work from a brief informed by a partner NGO's identified need, so the project addresses a real gap rather than an assumption.

Expected deliverables

  • A community needs assessment.
  • A project definition and action plan.
  • A safeguarded project blueprint.

Student responsibilities

  • Attend weekly mentor sessions.
  • Complete weekly tasks to a reasonable standard.
  • Engage honestly with feedback.
